Illinois Behavioral Health Transformation

Illinois is requesting a new 5-year comprehensive behavioral health section 1115 demonstration to integrate physical and behavioral health systems. The state is seeking a set of Designated State Health Programs (DSHPs) to support the demonstrations goals. Illinois seeks to rebalance the behavioral health ecosystem, promote integrated delivery of behavioral and physical health care, promote integration of behavioral health and primary care for members with lower needs, support development of robust and sustainable behavioral health services, invest in support services (such as housing and employment services) and create an enabling environment to move behavioral health towards outcome based and value-based payments. The federal comment period will be open from October 20, 2016 through November 19, 2016.
