Ohio Group VIII Work Requirement and Community Engagement

On February 28, 2025, Ohio submitted a request for a new 5-year demonstration to require new pre-enrollment eligibility limitations for the adult Medicaid expansion population (adults with income from 0 through133 percent of the federal poverty level. The application proposes that prior to enrollment and at each eligibility redetermination, an individual must satisfy at least one of the following criteria: be at least fifty-five years of age; be employed;  be enrolled in school or an occupational training program; be participating in an alcohol and drug addiction treatment program; or have intensive physical health care needs or serious mental illness. The state is targeting to implement the  new requirements statewide starting January 1, 2026. The federal public comment period will be open from March 7, 2025 through April 7, 2025.
