Illinois Continuity of Care and Administrative Simplification

On December 31, 2019, the state submitted an application for a new 5-year section 1115 demonstration that will provide quality health care and improved health outcomes through continuity of care and care coordination to Medicaid beneficiaries while reducing unnecessary administrative burdens. The proposed demonstration seeks authority for three initiatives: (1) Extension of the postpartum coverage from 60-days to 12-months; (2) Managed care organization (MCO) reinstatement for Medicaid beneficiaries who submit late redetermination paperwork within 90-days; and (3) The waiving of hospital presumptive eligibility (HPE). The 30-day federal public comment period will be open from January 15, 2020 through February 13, 2020.
