Georgia Postpartum Extension - Application

On December 11, 2020, Georgia submitted an application for a new section 1115 demonstration titled, Georgia Postpartum Extension. The state proposes to extend postpartum Medicaid coverage from a period of 60 days to one hundred and eighty (180) days or six months, with the goal of providing continuity of care that will ultimately reduce maternal morbidity and mortality.  The state requested a five-year demonstration approval period and intends to implement the demonstration statewide effective July 1, 2021. The federal public comment period will be open from December 23, 2020 through January 22, 2021.
