Healthy Texas Women - Extension Request

On March 28, 2024, Texas submitted a request to extend the Medicaid section 1115(a) demonstration entitled “Healthy Texas Women” that expires on December 31, 2024 for an additional five years. This demonstration aims to increase and strengthen coverage for low-income women in Texas through the provision of a benefit package for women who would not otherwise be eligible for family planning and preventative services under Texas Medicaid. The HTW demonstration provides family planning services as well as other women’s health services that contribute to preconception care, better birth outcomes and improved maternal health in Texas. The federal public comment period will be open from April 5, 2024 through May 5, 2024.

Due to a technical error with the closing date of the first federal public comment period, CMS is providing another 24 hours of federal public comment on 5/7/2024.
