Alaska Substance Use Disorder and Behavioral Health Program Extension Request On March 01, 2023, Alaska submitted a request to extend its Medicaid section 1115(a) demonstration entitled the ““Alaska Substance Use Disorder and Behavioral Health Program.” The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services (DHSS) is extending its Section 1115 Demonstration in order to support the continued transformation of its mental health and substance use disorder (SUD) delivery system. The goal of the Alaska Medicaid Section 1115 Behavioral Health Demonstration is to create a data-driven, integrated behavioral health system of care for Alaskans with serious mental illness, severe emotional disturbance, and/or substance use disorders. The federal public comment period will be open from March 10, 2023 - April 9, 2023.
